TEDINGTON WEIR

Public BBQ

Tedington Weir sits about 12 minutes from the Tedington Road exit off Gympie Road, offering a peaceful spot for a picnic by the creek. The weir itself looks impressive when water's flowing well, and there's a fish ladder worth checking out. The park has barbecue facilities, toilets, tables and chairs spread across nice grounds with plenty of room. Fishing is popular here for barramundi and bass. It's also a solid kayaking spot downriver from the weir, though the water runs a bit shallow getting in. The view makes it worthwhile. The council doesn't allow camping at the park above the weir, which frustrates some visitors who think it's unusual for the area. Otherwise, it's a quiet little park good for an afternoon visit.
